Singletrack’s AI-backed Semantic Search

Answer client questions with investment research

Singletrack’s new Semantic Search gives your clients the ability to ask natural-language questions of your research library and receive answers to those questions backed up by the content you’ve published. It’s user-friendly, reliable, and makes it much easier for clients to incorporate research insights into their investment decision processes.

Powered by Singletrack AI, Semantic Search delivers this improved experience for your clients without adding to the workload for you.

Searching Singletrack Portal

Semantic Search works in Singletrack Portal, our research portal for investment banks and independent research providers (IRPs). Portal seamlessly delivers research and other advisory services including events to buy side customers on desktop and mobile platforms, while capturing rich, reliable data and analytics to help develop a deep understanding of client intent.

Search functionality has long been a part of Singletrack Portal, but this was previously limited to traditional text search and intentional search. This meant buy side clients could search the research library for exact matches and for related ideas, synonyms, etc.

While this meant buy side clients could quickly search through the investment research content on the Portal for information relevant to their query, improved AI tools and large language models (LLMs) presented an opportunity to allow clients to interact with research content like they would with an experienced analyst.

Ask a question, find the answer

Singletrack Semantic Search means users can ask the research portal a natural language question and receive results which will help them answer their query. Relevant sections of the returned research content are highlighted so users can go directly to the most relevant places to answer their queries.

This goes beyond simply looking for word matches: Semantic Search can interpret questions which contain typos or mistakes, and will also return semantically related research, not just word matches.

For example, if a client visiting your portal were to search, ‘how has Microsoft’s recent execution appointments impacted their performance?’ they will now be presented with the option of performing a text search, or choosing a Semantic Search. Like text search, Semantic Search will recognise the typo in the query (swapping ‘execution’ for ‘executive’) and will return a list of research documents from your corpus, listed by relevance. Additionally, Semantic Search will identify and highlight the most relevant sections of text within each document and provide page links, so users can immediately find the information they’re looking for.

Automating better service for clients

Ultimately, Semantic Search means better service for clients and more time for your teams to invest in truly valuable activities. By making it easier for clients to incorporate insights from your research library into their investment processes, Semantic Search has the potential to make your offering stand out from competitors. And while clients are inputting their research queries, Singletrack collects rich intent data to help you better understand, and better meet, their needs.
